Service Management Transition


ABB needed to on-board 100+ non-ERP applications for ABB Power Grids in support of ABB’s divestment of its Power Grids business to Hitachi ABB and transformation towards a decentralized global technology company.

The PG divestment from ABB required the physical separation of a number of core services and non-ERP applications.

ABB needed a Service Management expert who understood ServiceNow and Service Catalog implementation and could develop requirements for Hitachi ABB based on the existing ABB structure and project manage the implementation, working with the business and the selected tier 1 delivery partner.



Peru adopted a three phased transition approach comprising engagement of the ABB portfolio leads and Hitachi ABB non-ERP application managers to agree foundation data configuration, development and configuration of requestable items and finally off-boarding of the Hitachi PG organisation from associated ABB non-ERP applications

We engaged the retained ABB and Hitachi ABB organisation, to gather stakeholder requirements and to ensure active involvement in the transition process.

We implemented a rigorous tracking process, to ensure early identification of transition risks and development of mitigation activities and to enable management reporting


On-boarding to ServiceNow of Hitachi ABB non-ERP Applications

  • On-boarding to ServiceNow of 131 Hitachi ABB non-ERP Applications across 28 service portfolios, enabling smooth delivery of the Day1 incident management process
  • Availability of 170 Hitachi ABB catalogue items in the End User Service Catalog on Day1
  • Restriction of ABB catalogue items for Hitachi ABB users and restriction of Hitachi ABB catalogue items for ABB users for in-scope non-ERP applications
  • Development and documentation of a standard and repeatable interim (Transition Service Agreement (TSA)) on-boarding process for Hitachi ABB
