##### This retailer was looking for a new finance system and during initial discussions we jointly identified the need for a fundamental review of their IT landscape to understand how IT delivered value and how future investment in IT should be approached

## Approach

Our team focused on understanding business capabilities across operational teams (from retail stores to distribution) delivering:

- View on alignment between company strategy and supporting business unit strategies.
- Engagement with business leads to capture their current business capabilities and identified how effectively IT capabilities support the needs of each business unit.
- A holistic view of how their proprietary software supported the business
- Summaries of strategic against commodity capabilities enabling the business to prioritise investment areas
- Build a dashboard per business unit helping identify key risks, gaps in operational processes and technology opportunities

## Outcomes

- Clarity of current strategic capabilities and future needs to build a reliable and actionable roadmap for change
- Transparency across the technology estate understanding how effectively the current IT systems supported the different business areas.
- Key risks identified both within the business and IT with actionable mitigation plan
